Chula Vista Public Library, Civic Center Branch
4th & F Streets. Monday to Thursday, 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Sunday 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Genealogy section, volunteers to help 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Mondays.

Georgina Cole Library

Genealogy and Local History collection, entire 2nd floor. Outstanding collection. Open Monday-Thursday, 9 am-9 pm, Friday & Saturday, 9 am-5 pm , and Sunday 1 pm-5 pm. San Diego Public Library

Newspaper room (e-mail to speccoll@sandiego.gov, put ÒAttn: Obit,Ó for example, in subject line) has many old and current San Diego area newspapers as well as national newspapers on film. Remote access to ProQuest Newsstand (640+ national and international newspapers, mostly from 1980s-present), full text searchable, available with a current San Diego Public Library card. Ancestry.com (library edition) is available at all locations.

Shortest no-toll route from San Diego: Go north on I-5, exit onto 73 tollroad, exit tollroad at Greenfield (no toll that far); go left on Greenfield 1 block to Rancho Niguel Rd. Turn right, go approximately 1.2 miles to end (La Paz). Turn right on La Paz, go approximately 1.2 miles to Allegra. Turn left to parking area.
